MELBOURNE, Fla. โ An officer was injured Tuesday when a teenage boy in a stolen car rammed a patrol vehicle while trying to avoid arrest, according to the Melbourne Police Department. Police said they spotted a stolen Chrysler PT Cruiser around 7:15 p.m. on Lipscomb Street and attempted to stop the driver by pulling a vehicle โnose to noseโ with the stolen car at an intersection. AdThe officers got back into their patrol vehicle, followed the teen and once again tried to approach him, but this time he accelerated toward the patrol vehicle, pinning one officerโs leg, according to the affidavit. โ(The suspect) continued to strike the patrol vehicle, causing extreme pain and injury to Officer Self,โ the report read. MELBOURNE, Fla. โ A man armed with a gun, who barricaded himself inside a Melbourne Church Sunday, was arrested by SWAT team members after a standoff lasting hours. Soliman is a known individual at the church, officers said. Officers said they were able to distract Soliman long enough so church members could flee the area. According to officers, Soliman barricaded himself just outside the front door of the church and threatened to commit suicide. Around 12 p.m., Soliman was taken into custody by members of the SWAT team.

Police said they were patrolling around 12:30 a.m. Friday in the area of Paradise Boulevard and Highway A1A when they saw a black sports motorcycle turn onto A1A and immediately accelerate to 100 mph. Records show officers activated their lights and attempted to stop the motorcycle, but the rider just turned around, looked directly at them and sped off. Authorities said they were able to get the license plate number from the motorcycle and they used that to identify the driver, 19-year-old Scott Swetland. Heโs facing charges of fleeing and eluding and disregard of public safety.

Officers responded to an apartment along 1411 Spain St. Wednesday with a warrant to target the sales of heroin, fentanyl and cocaine. When officers arrived at the home, they found and seized 48 grams of MDMA, 10 grams of methamphetamine, 6 grams of powder cocaine, 1 gram of crack cocaine, 10 grams of cannabis, 17 oxycodone pills and $2,191 in cash, according to a news release. Officers arrested Steven Laron Eaddy, 45, who lives at the apartment on charges of trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in MDMA, possession of cocaine with intent to sell and possession of oxycodone, records showed. Eaddy was booked at the Brevard County Jail.

During that time, Johnson drove dangerously on streets filled with traffic, ran red lights and drove off the road multiple times, according to the affidavit. Johnson is also accused of making a U-turn in an attempt to hit a patrol vehicle that he had just passed, records show.
