With hurricane season just two days away, Volusia County officials held a town hall meeting to prepare News Smyrna Beach residents for potential impacts, after Hurricane Ian left lasting scars on the community.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – Sharks took over the shallow waters of a New Smyrna Beach inlet this week and a local beachgoer used his drone to get a birds-eye view. Jeremy Johnston said earlier this week he wasn’t in the water long before noticing a lot of sharks in ankle-deep water. Johnston said he stood on the beach for about 20 minutes because he was nervous to paddle out and surf by himself. Johnston’s video has since been viewed more than 13 thousand times. On Thursday, Johnston posted another video of himself surfing, the same day he captured the incredible video of the sharks.
