Dozens of school district employees waited in line to get their shots outside of Ocoee High School Saturday morning. National guardsmen were also seen stationed at Colonial High School. The school district is hosting the walk-up vaccination sites at Colonial High School, East River High School, Freedom High School, Oak Ridge High School, and Ocoee High School. All OCPS employees, regardless of age or job title, are eligible to receive the vaccine at all Florida distribution sites.

The affected games are: Freedom High School vs. East River High School and Ocoee High School vs. Celebration High School. The Ocoee game has been canceled due to contact tracing at Celebration, which played against Freedom last week. Games involving Evans High School vs. West Orange High School and Edgewater High vs. Wekiva High have also been canceled earlier this season. Orange County football players are required to get rapid coronavirus testing before games.

Dexter Rentz Jr., 18, was found in the other vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound, records show. Authorities said they don’t believe the crime was random but haven’t provided details on what led up to the gunfire. Rentz was a standout senior on Ocoee High School’s football team who had received a full scholarship to play for the University of Louisville. Authorities said Dexter Rentz Jr. died in the shooting, which was reported late Saturday near Elese Street and Deerock Drive in Orlando. According to Orlando police, several 911 calls reported gunfire and officers in the area also heard gunshots. The names and ages of the other shooting victims have not been released because an investigation is ongoing, police said. Rentz had signed a football scholarship in December with the University of Louisville.
