Quinones said all supervisors have undergone racial equity training and the rest of the jail staff will get the same training. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said after the hostage standoff last year, it did a thorough investigation and suspended the three deputies involved in arresting Stanley.

Deputies say a airport security screener made the discovery after putting Epinosa’s bag through an X-ray machine. Investigators say Espinosa did not have a permit to carry a concealed firearm. Espinosa was booked into the Orange County Jail and has since been released.

Law enforcement officers outside the area fired shots through the glass door hitting Stanley in the shoulder, according to the report. The deputy was able to convince Stanley to unload the gun and put the weapon on the ground, according to the report.
