Part of a trove of gold coins stolen from a fleet of Spanish shipwrecks off the Florida coast has been recovered, and one of the family members who originally recovered the treasure is facing charges.

A team of state archaeologists is in Daytona Beach Shores to check out a suspected shipwreck discovered last week.

Volusia County Beach Officials believe another shipwreck may have just been uncovered in the Shores. If it is, it would be the second one uncovered since last year’s hurricanes.

Endurance belonged to Sir Ernest Shackleton, who led a crew of 27-men and 69 dogs who attempted to traverse the continent via the South Pole and establish a base on the coast of the Weddell Sea.
