The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called Sunday night for a shooting on SW Plantation Street in Dunnellon. AdThe MCSO SWAT team was called and an hours-long standoff ensued, sheriff’s officials said. Officials said efforts were made to resolve the situation, but Michael Chiswick fired shots at a deputy and others. “This is a difficult situation for everyone involved and our prayers are with the victims’ family,” Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods said.

Soliman is a known individual at the church, officers said. Officers said they were able to distract Soliman long enough so church members could flee the area. According to officers, Soliman barricaded himself just outside the front door of the church and threatened to commit suicide. Around 12 p.m., Soliman was taken into custody by members of the SWAT team.

According to deputies, they went to a residence on Picciola Road at 12:45 p.m. Thursday to serve an out-of-state felony warrant. “After numerous announcements on the PA system, the door of the residence was breached with the bomb squad robot,” officials said. Deputies said they were trying to arrest Randall Hopkins on charges of violation of probation, grand larceny, felony trespassing and felony fraud. No shots were fired by deputies during the standoff.

Early Sunday morning, deputies from Volusia County responded to a call for assistance from an Ormond Beach police officer who’d just been attacked at a Marathon gas station, according to a news release. Calisi was turned over to Ormond Beach police and taken to a hospital in Daytona Beach for an evaluation. Calisi is also facing charges from Ormand Beach PD which include: aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, depriving an officer of means of protection/communication. According to officials, Calisi had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear on charges of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and threatening a law enforcement officer.
