Police said the video shows the car officers want to find and that the driver “may possibly have information” on the crash.
Al Fountain was found in the eastbound lanes of 25th Street with serious injuries. He was rushed to the hospital, where he ultimately died, police said.
Rashmi Soto told News 6 that Fountain was her son, and she said the grief has been overwhelming.
“I don’t know what kind of human being would do something like that to a person and just take off,” Soto said.
Hiten Fountain, Al’s brother, said his brother was leaving a nearby convenience store when he was hit and killed by a driver who did not stop.
“Someone had to see something,” Hiten Fountain said. “It’s a busy area. There are kids outside playing all day constantly. He’s known around this area because he frequents the location.”
Anyone who saw the crash or has information on what happened is asked to call Sanford police at 407-688-5070.
