VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A motorcyclist was killed and another critically injured in a three-vehicle crash in Volusia County on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the deadly crash happened near U.S. 17-92 and Prevatt Road around 12:24 p.m.

According to a crash report, a Chevrolet Trailblazer with a trailer was driving north on U.S. 17-92, south of Prevatt Road.
At the same time, a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on U.S. 17-92 , south of Prevatt Road, and a second motorcycle – a Yamaha – was directly behind the Harley Davidson.

Troopers said the driver of the SUV, identified as 74-year-old Fort McCoy man, failed to slow down or stop for stopped traffic ahead of him in the northbound lane and swerved to the left and entered the southbound lane.
As a result, the front of the SUV struck the front of the Harley Davidson. The Yamaha motorcycle then crashed into the SUV’s trailer, according to a crash report. Both motorcyclists were thrown from their bikes.
The driver of the Harley Davidson, identified as a 73-year-old Ormond Beach man, died at the scene.
The driver of the Yamaha, identified as a 71-year-old Ormond Beach man, was taken to a local hospital and was listed in critical, but stable condition.
The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the report.
Troopers said the crash remains under investigation.
