According to a news release, after the vehicle ran a red light on International Parkway, Stubbs made a U-turn and began traveling east on County Road 46A before driving back onto I-4, swerving at speeds over 130 mph and cutting the vehicle lights on and off.
Troopers said Stubbs exited onto the westbound rest area of I-4, lost control and crashed into a parked semi.
After the crash, Stubbs exited the vehicle and ran away, leaving injured passengers inside the crashed vehicle.
According to the release, witnesses were able to tell troopers the area where Stubbs was and he was quickly captured.
Troopers said they located a gun and ammunition inside the vehicle in addition to four grams of marijuana.
Stubbs was taken to a hospital and released, troopers said. He was then arrested and taken to the Seminole County jail where he faces charges resisting officers without violence, driving without a valid license, hit and run involving injury, aggravated fleeing from police with injury or damage and reckless driving.
In addition, troopers said during the investigation, a woman identified as Shamika Rose Stubbs Peterson, 39, arrived at the crash scene and said her child was in the vehicle and wanted information.
According to the release, troopers told Peterson that none of the passengers were severely injured, the crime scene was still active, and that additional information wasn’t available at the time.
“While Troopers attempted to identify the passengers in the suspect vehicle, Ms. Peterson was asked to leave. Peterson became verbally abusive and made verbal threats towards the Trooper’s family. Shamika Rose Stubbs Peterson was arrested for making threats to a law enforcement officer and taken to Seminole County jail without incident,” the release concluded.
