ORLANDO, Fla. – An area of low pressure off the Gulf of Mexico is bringing rain to Central Florida on Friday.
The rain is expected to keep afternoon temperatures below average, in the lower to middle-70s.
The first round of rain arrived early Friday, bringing scattered moderate-to-heavy rainfall, with winds continuing to pick up out of the southeast at 15-25 mph and gusts up to 35mph.
Models indicate a brief break from the rain during the late morning into the early afternoon hours. Round two will arrive around 3 p.m.
The rain will become widespread through day, with the chance for a few strong thunderstorms. Heavy rainfall may lead to localized flooding in low lying and poorly drained areas.
Friday night, light showers are expected to linger before dissipating during the overnight hours.
A few isolated showers are possible early Saturday before a cold front arrives in the afternoon.
Scattered rain and storms are expected as that cold front moves through, with breezy conditions and highs in the lower 80s.
When that cold front exits Saturday evening, cooler and drier air moves in Sunday and it stays windy.
