ORLANDO, Fla. – Make sure you are finding ways of staying cool and hydrated this holiday weekend as the unofficial start to summer is going to be feeling VERY summer-like in Florida through Memorial Day.
Central Florida forecast
For your Friday, easterly winds will promote the arrival of the sea breeze along the coast as it pushes inland through the afternoon.
Plenty of dry air remains in place over the Orlando area, keeping us mainly dry.
And with the lack of any cooling elements, like rain or clouds, the upward climb with temperatures will reach the mid-90s inland and upper 80s along the coast.
The rest of the weekend is going to be even hotter as highs are forecast to reach the upper 90s Saturday, Sunday and Monday! Heat indices between 100-105 degrees are possible each afternoon, possibly prompting heat advisories.
At the beach, the biggest threats will be the heat and the rip current risk.
Expect conditions to remain hot early next week, with a better chance 20-40% for scattered showers beginning Tuesday.
Tropics update
The National Hurricane Center has highlighted an area of low pressure a few hundred miles northeast of the Bahamas.
Although conditions are not ideal for tropical development, some slight organization is possible.
The NHC is giving the area a 10% chance of forming over the next two days.
