ORLANDO, Fla. – Light southerly winds will keep conditions hot and humid through the week for Central Florida as storm chances return each afternoon.
RAIN CHANCES:
A high coverage for rain and storms remain in the forecast mostly driven by the collision of sea breezes through the day. Each sea breeze will slowly develop and push inland through late morning and into the afternoon, with the collision expected late afternoon into the early evening.
Along with frequent lightning, heavy rainfall will be the biggest impact as some storms will be capable of producing 1-3 inches of rain.
Storm coverage remains high at 60-70% each afternoon this week from 2 p.m. through 9 p.m.
TEMPERATURES:
Southerly winds continue to pump in the heat and humidity out of the tropics, keeping morning lows in the upper 70s and daytime highs into the mid to low 90s through the week.
When factoring humidity values in place, expect peak heat indices to reach 100-109 degrees each afternoon.
Because of this, a heat advisory is in effect for Flagler County on Monday afternoon from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. as the feels-like temperatures could reach 109 degrees.
TROPICS:
The National Hurricane Center is not expecting any significant development in the next two to seven days across the tropics.
Besides a few tropical waves out in the Atlantic, Saharan Dust is slowly taking over a large portion of the tropical Atlantic this week. This Saharan Air Layer, usually found in abundance in the early months of the hurricane season, is a a big factor in helping suppress tropical development.
