ORLANDO, Fla. – It’s going to be another scorcher today! Afternoon temperatures are forecasted to reach near-record highs, hitting 97 degrees in Orlando.
The current record stands at 98 degrees set back in 1986. With winds mainly from the south, expect increased humidity making it feel like temperatures are between 105 to 111 degrees. Remember to stay hydrated and take breaks if you’re outdoors.
Saharan dust will move into our area from the east this weekend, which will lower air quality. Rain chances are expected to be between 60% to 70% on Saturday, but the dust will reduce coverage on Sunday to 40% to 50%.

There’s enough instability in the atmosphere for a few thunderstorms to develop, potentially bringing heavy rain at times, which could lead to minor flooding, lightning, and wind gusts up to 30-40 mph.
Looking ahead to next week, rain chances will remain high at 60% to 70%, with afternoon highs ranging from the lower-to-middle 90s.
TROPICS:
A couple of tropical waves are currently moving through the Caribbean, bringing more moisture. However, by early this week, these waves are likely to raise the chances of rain in Central Florida. The National Hurricane Center has not highlighted any areas of concern. Saharan dust remains dominant in the tropics, which should keep tropical activity quiet for the next week.
