ORLANDO Fla. – We are starting our Sunday with muggy temperatures in the mid-70s and some cloud cover.

Expect more clouds than sun today, which means our afternoon highs will be a few degrees cooler than we’ve seen for much of the month of July. Our high will hit 92 in Orlando, which is the normal high for this time of year.

Expect a 70% chance of rain today. Again, today we will see slow-moving thunderstorms, potentially leading to localized flooding.

The persistent rainfall is linked to a weak front to our north, which is drifting south and is expected to stall out, keeping our rain chances high through the workweek.

Looking ahead, temperatures will inch back up into the mid-90s by midweek. The relative humidity will push the heat index into the triple digits, so stay hydrated and take it easy during the peak afternoon hours.

The National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on a disturbance east of the Lesser Antilles. Currently, there’s a 40% chance that this system could develop into a more organized tropical feature over the next seven days. As it moves into the Caribbean, conditions are expected to become more conducive for development.

We’ll keep you updated as this situation evolves. If it were to affect us, it wouldn’t be until next week.
