‘Feels like’ temps soar in Central Florida with scattered storms. Here’s when things will change

August 13, 2024

ORLANDO, Fla. – The seasonal summer setup continues for Central Florida with conditions remaining hot with afternoon storms.

Tuesday-Thursday:

Highs are expected to soar back into the mid 90s with feels like temperatures hitting 105-108° for several hours each afternoon.

Few storms by midday will begin to bubble up out of the west and slowly tracking east into the evening hours. Rain coverage remains at 40-50% with lighting and heavy rainfall being the biggest storm hazards.

Friday-Weekend

A weak front is forecast to sink into north Florida by late week moving across the Florida peninsula into Thursday. This front will bring some relief from the heat by Friday with highs in the low 90s. A few spots across northern counties of Volusia, Flagler and Marion counties could stay in the upper 80s.

The most noticeable change will be the comfort level as humidity values are expected to dip, with feels like temperatures staying close to actual air temperatures.

The drier air will also keep rain chances down to 20-30% before increasing again into Monday.

Tropics:

Tropical Storm Ernesto is expected to take a northward turn well east of Florida this week as it moves away from Puerto Rico and the northern Leeward Islands.

Although the system will remain more than 700 miles away from the Florida coast long period swells, produced by Ernesto, will create rough surf, choppy seas and a high risk of rip currents into the weekend.
