ORLANDO, Fla. – After weeks of no activity across the Atlantic Basin, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, the area now has three tropical disturbances being monitored.
As of 8 a.m. Sunday, the NHC highlights a low pressure trough in the northwestern Gulf of Mexico bringing heavy rain to coastal Louisiana and Texas which has a 20% chance of developing in the next seven days, with potential flash flooding.
A tropical wave in the central Atlantic moving toward the Lesser Antilles has a 40% chance of becoming a tropical depression by late week as it enters the Caribbean Sea.

Regardless of development, it’ll bring heavy rain, strong winds and dangerous rip currents to the Lesser Antilles this week. If it becomes a storm, Francine is next on the list.
Another wave that is expected to move off the coast of Africa early this week has a low 20% chance of development.
