Tropics update

In the tropics, we are monitoring two areas of concern.

An area of low pressure offshore the southeastern U.S. has about a 50% chance of developing in the next seven days and is expected to move toward the north or northwest, away from Florida.

Further out in the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Gordon is being observed. This system is anticipated to weaken into a depression by Sunday and possibly regain tropical storm strength as it takes a northern turn, but it currently poses no threat to land areas.
