NHC highlights area in Atlantic for development heading into peak of hurricane season

ORLANDO, Fla. – The NHC has highlighted an area the central portion of the tropical Atlantic where low pressure could form in a few days.

After that time, the forecast calls for conditions over the waters to be generally favorable for some slow development of the system.

The time frame looks to be by this weekend into early next week, which is still a ways out for now as it moves west to west-northwest.

We are on the upward climb to the peak of hurricane season, which is Sept. 10. From now until then, expect an uptick in tropical activity and for the Pinpoint Weather Team to keep you abreast of all the changes that come along.

Also, if you haven’t already prepared for the season, be sure to go ahead and get that done.

Now is a great time, with Florida’s second disaster preparedness sales tax holiday of 2024 in full swing through Sept. 6.
