Here’s how to report, check outages during Hurricane Milton

Numbers to dial, sites to visit when you lose power

ORLANDO, Fla. – Leading up to Hurricane Milton, power providers servicing Central Florida have told their customers to expect outages over the next several days.

When that happens, it can help to know you have options when it comes to reporting and monitoring power outages in your area.

For customers of the Orlando Utilities Commission, you can text OUT to 69682 and receive updates via text about the outage cause and estimated time of restoration. OUC offers a 24-hour outage reporting line at 407-423-9018 and an online map of power outages.

Duke Energy customers may report outages online, as well as by calling 800-228-8485 or texting OUT to 57801. Access the Duke Energy interactive outage map by clicking here.

Customers of Florida Power and Light can call 800-468-8243 to report an outage or 866-263-9186 a dangerous situation such as a downed power line. Power outages can also be reported to FPL online by clicking here. View FPL’s power tracker map by clicking here.

Kissimmee Utility Authority customers can report an outage by texting Out to 877-582-7700 or by calling 407-933-9898 and selecting Option 1. Customers can also report a power outage online with the live chat on KUA’s website. Access KUA’s outage map by clicking here.

TECO customers can text OUT to 27079 to report an outage, as well as UPDATE or STATUS for updates on said outage. Customers are asked to verify their standing for such resources as outage notifications. Those who wish to report downed power lines, open transformers or other electrical troubles are urged to stay a safe distance away and call 813-223-0800 or 888-223-0800. Anyone wishing to report the smell of gas are asked to call 877-832-6747 to report a potential natural gas leak. Access TECO’s outage map by clicking here.

SECO Energy customers can report an outage by calling 800-732-6141, or online by filling out their last name and house number, phone number or account number. You can also locate an outage map here and call 352-793-3801 for further assistance.

In the event of a hurricane, the Florida Public Service Commission will keep a chart updated at least twice daily of current power outages statewide.
